Jerrabomberra claimed the title after a comfortable 10-4 victory over Sydney side Newport in the final after Jerra was the only non-Sydney side to make it through to the final four.
The victory marked the end of a nearly 12-month campaign from the Years 5-6 students, who began training for the competition back in February.
“The boys have all be training up to two-three times a week with [coach Heather Wilson] since the start of the year so it was a very dedicated effort on their part,” Jerrabomberra principal Chris Hunter said.
With the win, Jerra became the first primary school boys team from the South Coast region to win the statewide softball knock-out.
Jerrabomberra Public enjoyed a strong year across the codes in 2012 which the school’s netball and Aussie Rules sides both also progressing to their respective NSW state finals.
