Langhorn has been training with an extended Academy squad for the past three weeks in the hopes of earning a call up to the club's South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) side.
The 26-year-old has previously represented the Canberra Nationals but has spent the past three years playing in the Waratah State League with the Queanbeyan Yowies.
"My overall goal is to make the WNBL and this is one step towards achieving that," Langhorn said. "The training has been good so far, it's at a different level [to Queanbeyan] and a bit more intense but I think it's been going well."
SEABL is considered a second-tier competition to the WNBL and a stepping stone to higher honours. The Capitals Academy's 2013 campaign is set to get underway on Saturday, March 16 against Brisbane.
Langhorn said she was unsure when the current extended squad would be whittled down to a final playing group or whether she would be available for Queanbeyan's State League campaign this season.
"I think there's a possibility I could play for the Academy and for Queanbeyan but it all depends on if I get picked for SEABL and, if I do, how often I'll be travelling with them," she said.
"If I'm in [the Academy's] core group of players and am away every weekend then playing for Queanbeyan won't be an option. But if I don't make that core squad, I'm hoping I'll still be able to play Yowies as well."
