Mrs Sullivan photo, taken at her daughter's under nine's football game, has been chosen for the 2014 Postcards From Your Town calendar.
There were more than 950 photos entered into the competition sponsored by ActewAGL. However, Mrs Sullivan said she had an inkling she was on to a winner when she submitted the photo - one of 40,000 she had in the bank.
"Out of all the photos that I took, I knew that this was the one. I've never seen a photo like that before," the mum of three said.
"That day, there had been heaps of rain the week before, it was so muddy. Kids were just sliding left and right and I was lucky to get the shot.
"Max Miller- he's such a good footballer- just happened to run down the middle, he got tackled or something and just slid down."
Mrs Sullivan was encouraged to enter the competition by members of the Queanbeyan Kangaroos Club where her daughter Molly plays in the under nine's competition and her two sons Mitchell and Zac represent the senior side.
The 45-year-old was just one of a handful of local amateur photographers included in the annual calendar competition.
Jerrabomberra's Scott Bosman's photo of fireworks over Lake Burley Griffin made the cut as well as Burra's Carly Woollard with her photo of a sheep dog helping cart hay.
Each winner received a $500 cheque which Mrs Sullivan has put towards upgrading her camera and buying another lens.
"I only started photography this year after my husband bought me a camera for my birthday. I just thought 'when am I ever going to use this other than on holiday?'. My daughter and two boys play football and I ended up taking it to a game one day and just taking more and more photos," Mrs Sullivan said.
"I love taking actions photos, it's amazing what you see through the lens. It's big a learning curve for me, I'm self- taught and I have a long way to go.
"I'll definitely out and about on the field next season."
