NEARLY 250 horse riders will descend on Bungendore this weekend as the town plays host to the NSW State Show Riding Championship.

This year’s championships have attracted 245 riders with competitors and their families travelling from across NSW to compete.

Zone 16, which includes Queanbeyan, Bungendore and Canberra, will field a strong contingent of 31 riders at the championships.

“With 31 riders from our zone hailing from seven different clubs across six age divisions, we are confident of our members making worthy opponents for visiting riders from all across the state,” Zone 16 president Melissa Benyon said.
“[We’re] very happy to be hosting the state Show Riding Championships this year. We hope everyone will have a great time and that riders will be encouraged to return to Zone 16 for future state and zone events.”
The 2013 NSW State Showriding Championships will be held from December 7-8 at the Bungendore Showgrounds, Bungendore.

Spectators are welcome with free admission on both days. A canteen will be in operation for the duration of the event along with some exciting equine trade stands.
