Three local churches including St Raphael's Catholic Church, Queanbeyan Uniting Church and the Christ Church Anglican Church will open their doors from 4-8pm for the public to view their annual nativity displays.
Mrs Moir told The Queanbeyan Age that she's hoping to build a strong annual tourism trail here in Queanbeyan after witnessing the nativity tradition in Florence, Italy last year.
"There are lots of churches in Florence that do the same thing. It's not a trail, but they make it available to tourists and you can go and see all the nativity scenes.
"And I was thinking that Queanbeyan is actually really well suited to a nativity trail like that, because it's nice and flat and well established, it's leafy and green and there are a lot of churches. It's a really nice way to showcase Queanbeyan too," she said.
Mrs Moir picked up the phone to see if she could turn her idea into a reality in November, and said she was very pleased that local churches had backed the concept straight away.
"It's nice to have three different churches coming together.
"It sends a nice Christmas message I think, and a nice Queanbeyan message too."
And she said she's hoping to keep the idea going in 2014, with more local churches involved.
"Our CBD is very pretty, and all the different churches are all quite distinctive and beautiful."
Join the first Queanbeyan Nativity Trail this Sunday, December 22. St Raphael's Catholic Church, Queanbeyan Uniting Church and the Christ Church Anglican Church will all be open between 4-8pm. Free entry.
