Starting the morning with a cruise through Manuka at 10am, club members and their freshly buffed custom cars will descend on the park at 11am.

Club president John Thompson said it would be the 24th consecutive year the Show and Shine has been held, with 180 entrants registered for this year's event.

"It just gets bigger every year," he said.

"We like coming to Queanbeyan, because it's a nice, country town, and the park is just an awesome spot for a Show and Shine under the trees. We really look forward to it every year."

Club member Todd Bevan is looking forward to showing off his recently purchased 1949 Ford, which he found on eBay after 15 years of searching.

"They're great cars. It's taken me about 15 years to find one worth buying that wasn't a rusty relic that needed a lot of work. I'm very happy with it," he said.

Although over 60 years old, the black beauty still starts first time every time, Mr Bevan said.

"It's nice and smooth to drive.

"They're like big old boats really. They're not made to drive 100 miles per hour, but at least I won't be getting speeding tickets.

"And the great thing about it is the style they put into the vintage cars. These days with aerodynamics, all cars pretty much look the same."

Members of the Queanbeyan Men's Shed will also be on hand to man the barbecues on Saturday morning.

A coffee van will also be available on the day.

Mr Thompson said the Canberra Hot Rod Association was a not for profit organisation with any funds raised to be donated to local charities.
