Billed as the biggest children’s triathlon event in the world, this year’s TRYathlon will take place at a specially designed course at the Australian Institute of Sport.
The Hitchman family will be taking part for the first time this year after middle sister Emma (10), expressed an interest before older sibling Brooke (12) and younger brother Jack (9) also got on board.
“They’ve never done anything like this together before so there’s no banter at this stage,” dad Paul said. “As they’re all in separate age groups they won’t be able to get too competitive with each other.”
Emma, however, confided in The Queanbeyan Age that she would prove the quickest of the trio although she did acknowledge that brother Jack was “probably the best swimmer”.
This year’s ambassador for the Canberra Weet-Bix TRYathlon is once again Australian and former Queanbeyan cricketer Brad Haddin.
