About 5.30pm on Friday evening, a 66-year-old male was driving his green Commodore station wagon in an easterly direction along Erin Street, Queanbeyan when it experienced mechanical problems.
He pulled to the side of the road outside a local nursing home to inspect his vehicle, and noticed an argument occurring nearby between a male and a female in a white hatch back.
He then approached this vehicle to offer his assistance, but was confronted by the male and punched twice to the face. His attacker returned to the white hatchback and drove off. The male is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his mid-twenties, 5 foot 10 inches tall, solid build and short dark hair.
The 66-year-old victim was later admitted to Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries. Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or Queanbeyan Police on (02) 62 980 555.
