The Country Women's Association (CWA) branch exceeded its goal of $1000 at the fundraiser, with 56 women filling the hall to help raise money for the cause.

The money will go to the Queensland CWA (QCWA) Public Rural Crisis Fund, which donates money to help the public in times of drought, floods and bushfires.

Beaudesert CWA president Grace Booth said she was blown away by the support.

"That's the biggest crowd I think we've had - the hall was so full I thought it must have been getting smaller," she said.

"There were a lot of strangers there I hadn't seen before and some of them even put extra money on the table as they went out. Usually we get about $800, so what we raised is extraordinarily good."

She said the generosity showed people cared.

"There is a lot of support for farmers and I think it really has touched a lot of hearts," she said.

"Even if our donation just helps a little bit, we know it'll be going to help someone. Each year whether it's drought, floods or fire we know we're making a difference."

The Beaudesert CWA will also add money from local choir Glad's Girls to its donation, with the choir hosting a fundraising concert yesterday morning to contribute to the QCWA Public Rural Crisis Fund.
