Councillors should listen to people who raise concerns inside and outside council. If our councillors don’t act in the community’s best interests they must answer to the community at the next election.
Mr Chapman works for council. He and his staff are there to do whatever council wants for the community. Sure Mr Chapman is entitled to his opinion but he can’t undo a council decision he disapproves of, so what possible purpose can there be for him to speak out besides hurting council’s reputation? It’s a bad idea for council and for the community.
Would Mr Chapman tolerate his employees publicly criticising his decisions? I bet he wouldn’t!
