The temperature reached just 18 degrees on the day along with 11 milimetres of rain, but veteran horse trainer Frank Cleary and his son Joe still managed two wins each on the day.
But despite the unideal conditions, Cleary said he was always confident that his two winners, That's Freedom and Frannie's Magic, could race on a wet track but was more concerned about their fitness having raced at the end of the day.
"We were quietly confident but at the end of the day when you've got last use of a track and it's so heavy you just lose a bit of confidence because there's not much fitness behind them," he said.
Cleary has high hopes in Frannie's Magic, and plans on taking her to the Wagga Carnival in May where he last won a few years ago.\
That's Freedom will run next in Cowra on April 9.
Joe Cleary won his first race with Rimu, a horse he purchased just two weeks ago just to "see how it goes".
While she was previously owned by Jerry Harvey and was based at Royal Randwick, Joe Cleary said she was not a superstar.
"I didn't buy her with any big plans," he said. "I just wanted to give her a run, and I'm extremely happy with her and Shaun Guymer's [jockey] performance."
