Eighteen-year old Bermagui recruit Brandon Lagana is just one of a bunch of teenagers raised by the Queanbeyan Tigers to prosper into the NEAFL, and has come all the way from playing in the Greater Western Sydney Giants Academy to playing in the Queanbeyan Rising Stars program, and eventually making his NEAFL debut late last season for the Tigers.
Many of the club's young players, including Tim Shea, Jason Taylor, Cody Haub and Jarrad Thomson have come through the Tigers' Rising Stars program and gone straight into the NEAFL side, and this has been a great sign for co-coaches Josh Bryce and Kade Klemke.
Lagana played mostly under 18's and second grade last season, and knowing that he does have one game in the NEAFL up his sleeve, is keen as ever to try and solidify a spot in the first grade side.
"It's basically about getting down to the training track, getting together some match fitness and hopefully playing some good footy and putting my best foot forward to play NEAFL," he said.
The rising mid-fielder did not back himself to play tomorrow in the Tigers' first game of the NEAFL, but said he thought he was a good chance at playing NEAFL frequently in the second half of the season.
Lagana said the club's culture had a very welcoming environment and created a tight-knit culture.
Levi Powers, Sam Adams, Kieran Shea and Steven Camp are other young guns Bryce and Klemke believe should be looked out for.
