After a confidence-boosting 32-point win against the struggling Belconnen a week ago, they had a good chance to build against previously single-game winners Aspley.

But the Queensland side showed much better composure and structure in their game-play, running out 15.10.100 to 6.14.50 winners.

The Tigers struggled defensively and their shots at goal waved away frequently.

Aspley dominated possession and accuracy, and forwards Clinton French and Eddie Sansbury were able to take too much control.

The visitors in the Hornets also dominated turnovers, and were the better side in moving the ball into the inside 50.

The game started well for the Tigers in the first quarter, being well in the hunt down by just three goals at the first change-over.

But Queanbeyan tired and fell off the pace far too early.

They trailed 8.4.52 to 4.7.31 at half time, but the second half inevitably became more of a struggle.

The Hornets booted a further four goals and four one-pointers in the third term, setting a practically unassailable lead of 36 points.

There were few positives in the game for the locals, but co-coaches Kade Klemke and Josh Bryce played their hearts out, running around the paddock and getting involved.
