After a confidence-boosting 32-point win against the struggling Belconnen a week before, they had a good chance to build from that against previous single-game winners Aspley.

But the Queensland side showed much better composure and structure in their game-play, running out 15.10.100 to 6.14.50 winners while the Tigers struggled defensively and their shots at goal waved away frequently.

The visitors also dominated turnovers, and were the better side in moving the ball into the inside 50 which was also a concern for the Tigers.

Skipper and 195-game veteran Ryan Quade said his men had to apply more pressure to their opposite numbers.

"We had to work really hard for our goals and they seemed to get really quick, easy ones in response, so we were just missing the polish to capitalise on the few opportunities we had which would have put more pressure on them," he said.

Quade said while his men took a lot of positives from their win against Belconnen, they still had a lot to work on, and that meant the loss to Aspley was not a failure in building from the Belconnen win.

"We still knew we had a lot of areas to work on even though we won. We were pretty happy with our performance today, we just know there's one or two things we need to fix up...it's a new team we have to build up, but we still think we're headed in the right direction," he said.

They will travel to Manuka on Sunday to take on fellow one-game winners Eastlake.
