Molotov cocktail damages heritage-listed house
AUTHORITIES believe a Molotov cocktail has been used to destroy a heritage-listed house on Booth Street, Queanbeyan.
The house had recently been boarded up and was damaged following a deliberately lit fire on Saturday afternoon, May 3.
Queanbeyan Police and the Fire Brigade attended the abandoned house at about 3.40pm.
Neighbours reported hearing a small explosion and then seeing five young males flee the area, Queanbeyan Police Inspector Neil Grey said.
Firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control and prevent any further damage to the heritage building.

Gatecrashers marr local celebrations
QUEANBEYAN Police have reminded residents not to advertise their private parties on social media after having to break up two gatherings over the weekend.
Officers were responding to report of a brawl at a resident on Halloran Drive, Jerrabomberra at about 11pm on Friday, May 2.
A 16-year-old male was arrested for failing to comply with police direction and another 17-year-old charged for being possession of a small amount of cannabis.
Officer estimated about 200 people were at the residence and surrounding street area when they arrived. A number of people has forced entry into the residence and caused extensive damage to the property.
On Saturday, May 3 police were called to attend an address in Gilmore Place, Queanbeyan.
There was a gathering of about 40 people at the home, although many of the group had not been invited.
Police reported a confrontation between the "gate crashers" and genuine guests which resulted in a fight. There was damage to a fence.
A 17-year-old Queanbeyan male was charged with common assault and causing malicious damage.
He will appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on May 26.
Teen thieves caught red-handed
QUEANBEYAN Police are pursuing legal proceedings after catching four teenagers breaking and entering into Seiffert Oval.
The youths forced entry into the clubhouse at about 8.30pm that night, stealing a quantity of alcohol and small amount of money.
Police stopped the group a short distance from the oval and discovered the items after conducting a search.
