THE Queanbeyan Kangroos remain one of two sides undefeated after two rounds of the Canberra Raiders Cup along with Gungahlin, and their backline is so far proving the difference in two crucial performances.

The likes of halves Jordan Macey and Luke Jones spreading the ball out wide to centre Robbie Byatt and backs Ratu Tagive and Bryan Cronan haas generated eight tries already, and proved the difference in last Saturday's local derby win over the Queanbeyan Blues.
And with the Kangaroos facing a tough four weeks ahead facing the remainder of last season's top five plus the undefeated Gungahlin Bulls in round six, there is more than enough incentive for them to keep their form.
Byatt, who has three tries to his name already this season, said his side's backline were able to execute pre-season tactics for the first time against the Blues in taking the game away from them in the second half.
"Once we started throwing the ball around a little bit we did find a few holes [in the Blues' defence] and got to get around them a little bit," he said.
Fullback Ratu Tagive fired in round one against the Woden Valley Rams, and along with Bryan Cronan in that position against the Blues last week, both players have slotted well into the backline out wide when attacking opposition goal lines.
Byatt said Tagive would prove an attacking weapon this season.
"He attracts a lot of players and cause he's such a big lad it's hard to get him one on one," he said.
"He takes a lot of pressure off me [out wide] and gives me a lot more room to move, so it's great running off him."
With head coach and captain Aaron Gorrell unlikely to play in the near future, Byatt said Macey and Jones had been firing well enough to continue good form in the weeks to come.
"They've given us a lot of options out wide," he said.
"We don't want to get ahead of ourselves at the moment but if we can stick to what we know we'll do well after the Blues win."
