A second half forwards blitz from the Whites proved the difference after a first half struggle that saw them trail 10-6 at the break.

And despite Easts having the better of the play at the start of the second stanza, the Whites muscled up and finished by dominating the breakdown.

South African recruit Altus Momsen kicked four penalty goals and a conversion for a personal haul of 14 points.

Easts muscled up in the first half, and some fierce attacking saw them score early put wide.

After converting that try, they continued pressing forward and eventually earned a penalty that made them shock 10-0 leaders.

The Whites finally fired up in the second 20 minutes of the half and could easily have scored a hand-full of tries had they executed their plays.

They did not go into the break empty-handed though, with Momsen kicking two penalty goals.

Easts dominated the first 10 minutes of the second stanza, attacking phase after phase with Queanbeyan hardly leaving their own 22 metre zone.

But an inspired defensive effort from each of their forwards ensured they did not concede further points.

They then muscled up at the breakdown, barging their way over the try-line where they finally got their first try.

From there momentum just about flipped on its head as Easts struggled to get any field position.

Whites winger Maligi Finau came centimetres from claiming his men's second try before tackled into touch, but an off-side penalty from the next play gave Momsen the chance to kick four points clear.

A try to fly-half Billy Chalker sealed the deal.
