The local member met with new Googong residents last Friday to welcome them to their new home, and mentioned there would be an upcoming budget announcement on the ring road.
"This is a great development ... I think this has set the benchmark of what Greenfields development will be like in the future," he said to residents.
"The government will play a role very shortly with some announcements. Firstly, the ring road for Queanbeyan, which will be important getting you in and out around Googong.
"Watch the budget in a few weeks' time- there will be an announcement in relation to the ring road," he said.
A spokeswoman for Mr Barilaro said no further details on the announcement would be made available until the budget was handed down on June 17.
"John's been working hard to ensure the project will be included in the upcoming budget but that's yet to be determined," the spokeswoman said.
Meanwhile, Mr Barilaro handed out welcome packs to the first residents of Googong on Friday, and said the town was proving a boon for the local economy, particularly in creating new construction jobs.
"Queanbeyan was starting to run out of land. Jerrabomberra had dried up and there was no real Greenfields sites," Mr Barilaro said.
"There was a lot of infill in Queanbeyan which also causes grief for communities, so the timing of Googong couldn't be any better for Queanbeyan."
There are now 13 occupied homes at Googong, with more residents moving in each week.
Canberra man Frank Daniele, his wife Paula and son Mikey are all but moved in at their new home, and Mr Daniele said it was the chance of a lifestyle change that attracted the family to the region.
"We love the atmosphere. Where do you find a new town with all new facilities? It just doesn't happen that often," he said.
"And it's not just a new suburb, it's a whole new township which is part of what attracted us out here. Just that slogan 'Country living , city benefits' was really appealing to us."
