WHILE the main game did not live up to it's hype for the Queanbeyan Tigers North East Australian Football League side, the female version did the opposite in claiming the only senior win for the club on its 90th birthday.

With the AFL Canberra first grade and rising stars side's having a bye, the 'Tigerettes' provided the curtain-raiser for the NEAFL showcase at Dairy Farmers Park last Saturday with a record 140-point win over the ADFA Rams.
The girls ran in a remarkable 21 goals and 15 behinds to just a single behind in the effort, leaving them with just one loss so far to lead the competition by a whopping 730 percentage points.
Coach and club legend Robert Anderson said while the day would have been far better if the NEAFL Tigers won their match, he was proud of his girl's contribution to the club's big day.
"We were against very ordinary opposition, but the girls loved playing in front of a great crowd before the main game," said Anderson.
"Every girl put their hand up, there was really no singular stand-outs."
Young gun and ACT representative Cassie Reid managed nine goals in the game, and the only negative was a broken wrist to Connie Lafranchi who could spend the rest of the season on the sideline.
Anderson has been most impressed by the great inexperience in his squad playing so well this year, with more than half having just one year of playing time, while 10 players are in their first ever seasons.
"They just run around and find their feet really well, and they have great support for one another too," said Anderson.
Meanwhile Tigerettes players Lani Watson, Hannah Dunn, Ella Ross, Meaghan Godrey, Carly Res, Tegan Tisma and Stephanie Ingall had a look-in for the ACT squad that took on NSW in their first of two "State of Origin" clashes last night.
