While the home team lost their NEAFL round match to the Belconnen Magpies in the day's main showpiece, the club took the opportunity to officially open it's renovated grandstand at Dairy Farmers Park, while female team the 'Tigerettes' claimed a record 140-point win in the curtain-raiser game.

In excess of 260 people turned out to the Karabar ground to watch the two games, most of them former associates and players of the club. The crowd then made its way to the Canberra Southern Cross Club for a dinner to celebrate the club's milestone birthday.

Despite the NEAFL result, Mr Fowlie said he was happy with how the day went, and felt proud to officially celebrate the club he has been apart of for most of his life.

"We really have pulled through the thick and thin over the years, but we've made it, and it's a great thing to be able to celebrate," he said.

"Mayor Tim Overall was present to formally open our new-look grandstand at Dairy Farmers Park and everyone out there enjoyed the day's action."

"Amongst other Powerpoint slide shows we also put together a DVD for the dinner we hosted, showcasing some of the biggest and best moments in our club's history."

Fowlie said it was great to see so many past members of the club at the dinner, which he said added to the atmosphere of the occasion.
