Police administered a total of 5133 breath tests across the Monaro Local Area Command during the Queen's Long Weekend.
Officers issued 269 tickets over that period. 59 drivers were caught speeding, 12 for drink driving and three for seatbelt offences. The remaining 195 tickets were given for "other offences" including negligent driving and mobile phone use.
"There were 269 tickets issued and that's the most out of all the southern police regions," Inspector Tony Hill said.
"It's disappointing given all the warnings motorists were given about increased police presence over the long weekend."
The Monaro Local Area Command includes greater Queanbeyan, the Lake George area and Palerang Shire.
