A 51-YEAR-OLD Jerrabomberra man was punched in the face by a teenager following a confrontation on Sunday afternoon, June 15.

The assault happened at about 3.45pm at an embankment adjacent to Rosewood Glen, Jerrabomberra.
The victim, who believed that a group of young people congregating in the area may have been throwing eggs at cars, approached one of the young males.
While speaking to this young person, the victim was struck without notice to the left side of his face. As a result of being hit, the victim has suffered a deep laceration to his lip that will require surgery.
The young person is described as being a Caucasian male aged between 15 and 17 years, about 170cm in height, of medium build with brown/blonde hair.
Police are investigating this matter and are seeking information from any member of the public who may know the identity of the assailant or any of the other young people present during the assault.
“This assault appears on face value to be a cowardly attack on an unsuspecting victim,” Inspector Grey from Queanbeyan Police said.
