While the west Queanbeyan venture currently leads the competition undefeated, they were given the ultimate scare with draws in rounds to the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs and the Tuggeranong Bushrangers, before smashing the Gungahlin Bulls heading into the break.

Macey said the focus at training now was to stop switching off towards the back end of games.

"We've been playing good footy in patches, but there's times where we've just been switching off, and that's probably why Goz [coach Aaron Gorrell] has been a bit angry with us lately," he said.

The men in maroon and white take on the West Belconnen Warriors at Freebody Oval, but what would have been an easy win for the Kangaroos in the past two seasons is no longer the case with the Warriors a much improved outfit in 2014.

Going win-less last season, they have already taken three games this year, including a big win over the fancied Queanbeyan Blues side in round four.

"Justin Giteau [Warriors coach] has got them really firing this year, they're playing top footy at the moment and it certainly won't be a roll-over for us," said Macey.

"They've got a big forward pack and should look to play through them, and they could look to ambush us, so we need to prepare for a physical match."

Macey himself has been in great form this season, along with the rest of his back line in Luke Jones, Bryan Cronan, Robbie Byatt, Ratu Tagive and Richard Kelly, but he said the forwards will be firing as well.

"It's about playing collectively as a team and keep improving," he said.

"But it would be good for us in the back to keep going how we have been."
