Chamber Vice President Steve Bartlett addressed the Council on Wednesday night and said the Downtown Q 2025 Competition would offer $90,000 in prize money across five separate design briefs as a way of seeking ideas to revitalise theQueanbeyan CBD.
He said Council's support for the venture would help attract entrants, and said the Chamber was hoping for around 40-50 entries, from students all the way up to successful architects.
"For the competition to be successful, architects need to understand that the Council is interested," Mr Bartlett said.
The competition will be run under Australian Institute of Architects rules and will be chaired by local architect and former head of the National Capital Authority, Annabelle Pegrum. Entries will open in July and close in October/November.
