Meteorologist Miranda Langton at the Bureau of Meteorology said the southern New South Wales region was experiencing well below average temperatures so far this month.
The Canberra Airport weather station recorded a temperature of minus four degrees at 6am this morning and the rest of the week is looking similar.
"Canberra's looking at temperatures of between zero and minus three degrees over the next week," she said.
"We've seen a high pressure system over the state which has led to relatively light winds and clear skies, so there has been extensive frost reported throughout the tablelands ranges."
The average July rainfall for Queanbeyan is 41.1mm, and with only 4.4mm of rainfall recorded so far, we need around 30mm of rainfall in the next two weeks to make it up to par.
Queanbeyan can expect around 5-10mm of rain this week with the main rainfall days likely to be Tuesday and Wednesday.
"By the weekend there should only be around one to two millimetres of rainfall," Ms Langton said.
