Mystery surrounds torched car
A HYUNDAI Tuscon has been left unrecognisable after being torched on the Kings Highway on Sunday night, August 15.
Inspector Scott Tozer said a forensic team has been called in to help trace the vehicle's owner.
"The vehicle was so badly damaged that we've had to call in forensics to help identify the engine and VIN number," he said.
"This will help us confirm the owner and whether the vehicle was stolen or not ... we suspect it was stolen."
The Queanbeyan Rural Fire Service attended the scene at about 10.10pm and extinguished the blaze. No one was in the vehicle at the time.
Queanbeyan Police inspector Scott Tozer said they believe the fire was deliberately lit with accelerant being used to start it.
