As a member of the South Coast Marlins AFL squad, Posthuma impressed selectors at the NSW School Sport AFL Carnival in Nelson Bay earlier this year.

He secured his place in a 'Blue Pups' squad that has previously seen the likes of Wayne Carey, Shane Crawford, and Jared McVeigh pass through its ranks.

Posthuma was the only member of the South Coast team to be selected in the NSW side, despite a strong showing from the Marlins who won three of their six games, improving on their 2015 placing by moving up the ranks once to 9th from a pool of 13.

Fellow Bungendore local Tobey Clifton was also a member of the South Coast team that competed against more than 280 of the best junior footballers in the state.

"It's pretty exciting [being selected for NSW]," Posthuma said.

"I play a mixture of positions, ruckman or wing, sort of all over."

Posthuma will spend some time with the Sydney Swans before flying to Queensland to compete in the National Schoolboys Football Championship at Maroochydore between Saturday, July 23 and Saturday, July 30.

The Bungendore community, alongside Posthuma's friends and family, are engaging in fundraising for the trip and its expenses.
