Her lawyer Erwin Siregar emerged from the police interrogation on Monday admitting the story was a "little bit different" to claims earlier ventilated by the lawyer for Ms Connor's boyfriend David Taylor.

He said Ms Connor had approached a man lying face down in the sand whom she suspected of having something to do with her missing handbag.

"At the time Sara did not know whether it was police or not. She saw this person and asked while shaking the person: 'Where is my bag? Where is my bag?'"

Mr Siregar said the man then bit Ms Connor on her arm and leg.

Asked how someone could bite while lying face down in the sand, Mr Siregar demonstrated by turning his head to one side.

Ms Connor and Mr Taylor have been declared suspects over the alleged murder of police officer Wayan Sudarsa, whose bloodied corpse was found on Kuta beach near a smashed Bintang beer bottle on August 17.

Mr Siregar said Ms Connor had believed the man had something to do with her bag, which had gone missing on the beach.

Asked why Ms Connor didn't recognise the police uniform, Mr Siregar said she thought it was just a coloured outfit.

Asked if there was blood, Mr Siregar said his client had not noticed. He said she didn't know how the man had ended face down in the sand.

At 1.30am that night Ms Connor and Mr Taylor had gone back to their homestay, according to Mr Siregar. They then went out and bought cigarettes before going to bed.

Mr Siregar said they had been planning to check out of the homestay - Kubu Kauh Beach Inn - on August 17 anyway and their departure had nothing to do with the incident.

Mr Siregar said the information was not complete yet and the interrogation would continue on Monday until 8pm.

"The information is not complete yet. I have to go. I will give an explanation later."

Mr Taylor's lawyer Haposan Sihombing had on Sunday claimed Ms Connor had told Mr Taylor she had been pushed into the sand by a "bad cop", who then lay on top of her.

"The story is a little bit different to Haposan's (version) and what Sara said today," Mr Siregar said.

Denpasar police chief Hadi Purnomo had earlier said the claim Ms Connor had been attacked by a "bad cop" was a "false statement" and she had promised to confess the "honest truth" about what she did on Monday.

The case had already appeared to be unravelling with Mr Haposan himself suggesting Mr Taylor was hiding something.

He told the media there were inconsistencies in his client's statement to police, including the timeline of events, why he just left after the police officer allegedly bit him and who had pushed Ms Connor onto the sand and then laid on top of her.

"Reading his statement ... there were unsynchronised statements, I saw something he was hiding. I tried to move his conscience to say it as it is, what he knows, what he felt, what he saw," Mr Haposan said on Sunday night.

Mr Haposan pointed out to his client that he had represented Bali nine drug mule Renae Lawrence, who received a sentence of 20 years in jail when the other Bali nine members received life imprisonment or the death penalty.

He had warned Mr Taylor that under Indonesian law suspects that are not co-operative, tell convoluted stories and do not admit their guilt receive heavier punishments.
