Service NSW in Queanbeyan now stocks Adult and Child/Youth Opal cards, making it more convenient for people travelling within the Opal footprint, Member for Monaro John Barilaro said.
There are plans to roll out opal cards at Cooma’s Service NSW in the future.
Eligible customers can also apply for a Gold or Concession Opal card at the Queanbeyan Service NSW centre, with staff able to assist with applications via online or the phone. Gold and Concession Opal cards will then be mailed to their home address.
Mr Barilaro said it’s great news for the local community.
“With paper tickets no longer sold or accepted, Opal is the way to go, so customers need to ensure they have the card in their pocket before they travel in and around Sydney, Newcastle, Bathurst or Wollongong,” Mr Barilaro said.
“With the opening of this new retailer, obtaining or topping up your Opal has now never been easier.”
Your nearest Opal retailer can be found at www.retailers.opal.com.au
Aside from retailers, there are plenty of ways to top up your Opal card – by downloading the free Opal Travel app, choosing auto top up, online at opal.com.au, at one of the many top-up machines on train stations, ferry wharves and light rail stops or by calling 13 OPAL (13 67 25), Mr Barilaro said.
Those who are entitled to a Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card or a Concession Opal card can apply via www.opal.com.au or by calling 13 OPAL.
