Implementation Advisory Group
Newly-amalgamated councils are required to establish the Implementation Advisory Group, which will assist the Administrator through providing advice on the establishment of the new council and reviewing the delivery of the merger Implementation Plan.
Community Litter Grants
Community groups interested in cleaning up an area of their community should apply for the litter grants from Keep NSW Beautiful. Understanding why litter occurs in a particular area is necessary to solve the universal problem of litter, so community groups are vital in tackling the root causes of the issue.
Queens Bridge mural
Council received a number of applicants for the painting of a public art mural on the pylons of the Queens Bridge and the successful applicant was endorsed at the recent council meeting. The artist will begin work in coming weeks with the goal of finishing the mural in time for the Queanbeyan River Festival.
Bike Week event
Council will be providing a free barbecue breakfast and a demonstration of the new lock-up facilities at the Queanbeyan Bus Interchange on Friday, September 23 from 7.30-9am. Grab a sausage before work and see how the new bike storage facility will work. The storage facility is now lockable for extra security, with access via a reader system accessed via a card or credentials on a mobile phone. A bike mechanic will also be on hand to provide a free safety check of bikes and helmets.
