Kevin John Martin, 50, of Cooma, was convicted of four offences in Cooma Local Court on Thursday, September 22.
As a result of the charges, Martin was suspended as a police officer. He was recently discharged from the NSW Police Force.
On August 4 he had changed his plea to guilty on all charges, which included breaching a personal violence order, intimidating a police officer and using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend.
On Thursday he was sentenced to 180 hours of community service, fined and placed on a good behaviour bond for 14 months.
In sentencing, Magistrate Michael Antrum referred to Martin’s mental state at the time of committing the offences and the work he had undergone with medical professionals since.
“I note Mr Martin’s principal focus is on rehabilitation, this is supported by medical professionals,” Magistrate Antrum said.
“Mr Martin now has a better appreciation of the impact his actions have had on the victim.”
