The council buildings in Captains Flat, Braidwood and Bungendore have recently had more than 400 solar panels installed. Sites that had panels installed include the water treatment plants at Currandooley, Captains Flat and Braidwood, as well as the Braidwood sewer treatment plant, the council’s Bungendore office and the Bungendore community centre.

Road infrastructure
I spent some time in and around the Braidwood area last week and noted some of the damage that has occurred to the roads due to the recent wet weather. The council is keen to respond to these issues and given the local government area has over 1500km of road, residents can help the council by informing us of areas that need to be attended to. Residents can use the smartphone app “Snap Send Solve” to take a photo of areas that are affected and send to the council to respond to. This application uses GPS data to record the location of the issue, so users should send the image while near the issue. Please only use your phone while off the road and it is safe to do so. Residents can also email or call the council to inform of areas that need attention.
Borderless infrastructure
The council has formalised the relationship between the ACT government through the execution of a letter of intent by the ACT chief minister and myself as administrator. Priority areas of engagement include improving road and active transport connectivity, collaborating on policy and planning opportunities to consider management of water, sewage, waste and renewable energy on a regional scale; planning and collaborating on major contiguous developments; understanding the infrastructure requirements to support population growth and coordinating efforts to support major events.
Braidwood truck wash
Funding for upgrades to the Braidwood truck wash has been applied for. The funding program is managed by Transport for NSW.
Stronger communities
More than 100 applications were received for the Stronger Communities Fund. The assessment panel will be considering the applications against the criteria and how they will deliver social, cultural, economic or environmental benefits to local communities. It is expected that an announcement regarding successful applications will be made by early November.
