However, snow fell at Corin Forest overnight opening up an alternate yet icy cold playground for school holiday revelers.
Canberra's annual celebration of spring was canned for the second day running.
A Floriade spokesperson confirmed on Friday morning that the event's doors would stay closed after heavy rain overnight on Wednesday and Thursday.
Organisers say they are still undertaking "park maintenance".
"All [Nightfest] ticket holders will be contacted by Ticketek and presented with the option to either transfer their tickets or get a full refund," the spokesperson said.
"On the basis of the currently available weather forecast, we intend to re-open the park tomorrow [Saturday, October 1] ."
Those unable to enjoy the flower festival can instead explore a winter wonderland, with Corin Forest reporting natural snow falls of 10 centimetres overnight.
"We will be open today with tobogganing and the cafe will also be open. Unfortunately we will be unable to run the Alpine Slide," a spokesperson for the Corin Forest Retreat said.
"Currently Corin road is closed for clearing. Point Hut crossing is still open for now" they said at 10am Friday.
Thredbo received 25 centimetres of fresh snow up the top of the mountain and five centimetres in the village and Perisher received 12 centimetres.
