The Denpasar District Court websites states the separate trials for Connor and her British DJ boyfriend David Taylor will begin on November 9.

The couple both face charges of unpremeditated murder, group attack or assault leading to death, which carry a maximum penalty of 15 years.

"It is important that the court in Bali know what a wonderful woman Sara really is," her supporters said in a statement on the website thesarafund.com

"What a beautiful mother she is and what a warm, kind and gentle friend she is to so many of us. The best way for us to tell the court this is to have you, her friends, write a reference for her."

It says the reference should be short, respectful and to the point. "Don't mention anything about your views on the case as such. Leave that to the lawyers."

Connor, a mother of two, was a much liked member of the Byron Bay community and ran a fresh pasta business there.

Her supporters suggest telling the court how long the reference writer has known Connor and the circumstances, such as "we have children at the same school" or "I buy pasta from her".

Father-of-two Wayan Sudarsa, a police officer in Bali for 30 years, was found dead on Kuta beach on August 17, with 42 wounds on his body.

Taylor has admitted bashing Mr Sudarsa with a beer bottle and binoculars after accusing him of stealing Connor's handbag. However he has not admitted to killing Mr Sudarsa.

However Connor denies having any involvement with the killing of the officer, insisting she tried to separate Mr Sudarsa and Taylor as they fought in the sand.

However she allegedly helped destroy the evidence by cutting up Mr Sudarsa's identity cards and with Taylor burned the bloodied clothes they were wearing on the night of the police officer's death.

Connor and Taylor were transferred to Bali's infamous Kerobokan jail earlier this month to await their trial.
