The three generations of Hollywood came together for Vanity Fair's December edition to discuss their respective careers, the possibility of all starring together, "We could all be the whole life of a woman," Griffith suggested, and Hedren's autobiography Tippi, which chronicles her 55 years in showbusiness.
"The three generations just made me think about mum, born in 1930, and me, in the 50s, and Dakota, in the 80s," says Griffith. "The progression of life is really beautiful."
Despite starring in over 80 films and TV shows, Hedren, 86, is most famed for Alfred Hitchcock's 1960s hits The Birds, for which she won a Golden Globe, and Marnie.
In the autobiography, released on Tuesday, she revealed the late director tried to sexually assault her when he "threw himself" on top of her in the back of his limousine and tried to kiss her.
She described the encounter as "an awful, awful moment" and decided not to tell anyone because "sexual harassment and stalking were terms that didn't exist" in the 1960s.
"Besides, he was Alfred Hitchcock, one of Universal's superstars, and I was just a lucky little blonde model he'd rescued from relative obscurity.
"Which one of us was more valuable to the studio, him or me?" she added.

It's not the first time Hedren has spoken of Hitchcock's treatment of her - she consulted on the 2012 HBO movie The Girl - but her memoir goes into greater detail than ever before, including a later encounter in his office where he "suddenly grabbed" her and "put his hands" on her.
"It was sexual, it was perverse, and it was ugly, and I couldn't have been more shocked and more repulsed," she wrote.
"The harder I fought him, the more aggressive he became. Then he started adding threats, as if he could do anything to me that was worse than what he was trying to do at that moment."
Hitchcock was furious Hedren rejected his advances, and told her: "I'll ruin your career."
"Do what you have to do," she replied as she left his office. They never spoke again.
"I've made it my mission ever since to see to it that while Hitchcock may have ruined my career, I never gave him the power to ruin my life," she said.
Hedren "surprised everyone" when she attended his funeral in 1980 after feeling "a wave of sadness" at his death.
"As far as I was concerned, there was no unfinished business between us, nothing more that needed to be said," she wrote.
"I'd already healed and moved on by the time Hitchcock died, far past anything I'd ever imagined for myself. So in the end, I was there to say, 'Goodbye, and thank you, Hitch.'"
Despite Griffith and Johnson's own movie successes, in particular Working Girl and Fifty Shades of Grey respectively, they never speak about acting with Hedren.
"No, we never even talk about it," Hedren says. "Isn't that interesting?"
