The alert level is set at advice.

Meanwhile, Queanbeyan police are calling for residents who are affected by the Mount Fairy/ Currandooley fire to register at the police station.

"If you have left your home because of this fire, please contact the Queanbeyan Police Station and register your name and contact details so we know that you are safe," a spokesman said.

As of about 6.30pm, 32 people had registered.

They were people who had left the area because of the fire or had been evacuated.

The service officially opened on Wednesday morning as part of the emergency operations protocol in place.

The police would provide further information about places to stay for both people and animals.
