Council would like to hear from all residents on what they value about their community and what their aspirations are for the community in the short, medium and long term. The feedback we receive in this process will guide the Community Strategic Plan and will be on the table for the elected council in September 2017. The main way to engage is via the new online engagement hub at http://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au/our-future-make-it-yours but there will also be interviews in the street and a chance to fill out paper copies at your local library.

Stronger Communities Fund: A number of potential infrastructure projects have been identified to be funded under the $9m Stronger Communities Fund. This second round of funding from the NSW government is for major community facilities and infrastructure projects. The list was developed following community meetings in Braidwood, Bungendore, Captains Flat and Queanbeyan in October and November last year and advice from the Local Representation Committee, as well as the schedule of works identified from council’s asset plans and priority areas that have been identified in community surveys. The projects are listed on council’s new engagement hub website at http://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au where you can make comments and rank the projects in order of priority.
Jupiter Wind Farm: Council is generally supportive of renewable energy projects but there are a number of concerns with this project being in a rural residential setting and not on broad acreage. Council opposes the development due to the visual impacts, loss of amenity, blade switch impacts, issues associated with access roads and the detriment to further infrastructure and residential development in the area. Council will lodge a submission with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
Your Voice: Don’t miss out on the chance to have your say on the proposals on exhibition at the new engagement website. As mentioned above, the Stronger Communities Fund, Our Future – Make it yours survey are listed as well as the Queanbeyan CBD Transformation Strategy, the proposal for the extension of the Queanbeyan Indoor Sports Centre and the draft development design specifications for the new release area of Googong. Those who register for the site during February will go into a draw to win tickets to a show at The Q or a $100 dining voucher.
