Malkah, formerly known as Kate Fischer, is currently appearing on Ten's I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here and she has given further details of how she lost her fortune after her split with billionaire James Packer.

"I was dating this Jewish guy in LA and I told him that I came from a Jewish family that didn't practise – he sent me to a rabbi who said "if your mother is Jewish, you're Jewish," Malkah said, during a candid 'jungle radio' interview with fellow contestant Steve Price on the set of the Ten show.

"I had always begged my mother to tell me more about it," she said, of her Jewish faith. Malkah's mother is high-profile NSW politician Pru Goward, although the pair are estranged.

Upon hearing the American rabbi's words, Malkah said "it honestly was the happiest day I have ever experienced in my life, I felt like I had been struck in the arse with a rainbow, I was so happy".

"The Rabbi turns out to be a con man," the 43-year-old said.

The millions she gave the rabbi, believed to be money from the settlement she received from James Packer, were never seen by Malkah again.

Hinting that she was besotted with the rabbi involved, who she has not named, Malkah revealed she met him in a singles group but said he was leading a double life.

"I just sort of met him in the young singles group and got swept away a little bit with him. He's incredibly charismatic, there is really no other word for it. He's very convincing," she said.

Of giving him the $2 million, Malkah recalled "he said he could invest it better, I was stupid and in love".

She said it was the remainder of her savings and over time she realised she had been conned.

When asked what has happened to the money, Malkah said "I don't know. He probably spent it on his wife and kids".

"When I was down to my last few thousand dollars in the bank, I went 'you really need to help me now, 'cause I can't, I won't be able to pay my rent in a couple of months time'. And he was like 'yeah, yeah, yeah, it's coming, already."

"But I'd heard that 'yeah, yeah, yeah, already' enough times and I thought 'I think he's done me over'."

The former model, who was engaged to Packer, revealed further details about facing homelessness because of her dire financial situation and seeking help from the Salvation Army.

"I was facing homelessness. I thought I was going to have to sleep under a bush," Malkah said. "I went down to the Salvation Army and said 'help me, I'm going to be homeless'.

"They got me in touch with women's housing and I moved into one of their houses and found a job down the road and started working," she said.

After many years out of the public eye, Malkah has chosen to step back into the television spotlight on the Ten show, after coping with the after-effects of a startling set of paparazzi photos which showed her wrapped in a bed sheet outside her Melbourne home.

Although Malkah said her losing her money was the "worst thing", she was philosophical about her life's direction.

"You know, I'm kind of happy with the place that I'm at now, so it's  sort of sometimes the worst thing that can happen … turns out if I hadn't have done that, then this wouldn't have happened," she said.
