Severe thunderstorm and flash flooding warnings were issued just before lunch time, with the city shown to be again on the outer path of a major storm system.

The storm is the second in two days across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, after Monday's storm came with heavy rains and some minor flooding, keeping ACT ESA staff busy with 25 call-outs across the city.

The Bureau of Meteorology's warning included a large area and a number of cities, from Dubbo in the north to Albury-Wodonga in the south, stretching south-east to Queanbeyan and Cooma and west past Griffith towards the Hay Plain.

Emergency services have warned against driving or riding on flooded roads, pedestrians should avoid creeks and storm water drains, and where possible stay indoors.

The Queanbeyan Tigers had to cancel training on Monday night and the club’s general manager Michael Goiser said his four teams scheduled to train Tuesday would again be forced off the main oval.

But they aren’t the only teams as Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council announced all sports ground in Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong are all closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

The council will reassess the grounds on Thursday.
