Administrator Tim Overall announced on Monday $9 million from the government’s stronger communities fund will be spent on 23 separate projects.
Handouts ranging from $15,000 to $1.5 million will go to various projects and improvements in Queanbeyan, Bungendore, Braidwood and Googong.
Seiffert Oval, the former home of the Canberra Raiders, will receive a significant face-lift to its ground and facilities, as well as modern lights.
While some projects were as simple but as important as new street lights and streetscape.
Mr Overall said it was rare for councils to have so much money to spend on infrastructure and he was excited for the developments.
Particularly to the netball courts in Karabar where the administrator made the announcement.
“Netball is extremely popular in Queanbeyan and the region and the upgrades to these facilities here will certainly improve the playing experience,” Mr Overall said.
State member for Monaro and deputy premier John Barilaro joined the administrator at the netball courts and congratulated the recipients of the fund.
“Other worthwhile projects to be funded include town centre improvements in Braidwood and Bungendore, upgraded community facilities in Captains Flat and work on the showground grandstand in Queanbeyan,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The NSW government’s stronger community provides councils with funding needed to kick start the delivery of priority projects that will improve community services and infrastructure.”
