Album: Emperor of Sand

Mastodon don’t make cheery albums and their dark, heavy sound reminds us all of the troubles in the world. Their seventh album Emperor of Sand is a concept piece about a man wandering around the desert with a curse over his head. The album is their most adventurous since the proggy rock trip of Crack the Sky and there is much diversity here. Mastodon prove they are one of the finest purveyors of metal.
