Council will be holding an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday 10 May 2017, commencing at 5pm in the Queanbeyan Council Chambers. The meeting is being held to present the draft Operational Plan, draft Revenue Policy and draft Fees and Charges to council. The three documents will then be put on public exhibition following this meeting. The regular Planning and Strategy Committee meeting will commence at 5.30pm and the scheduled Community Meeting will commence after the Planning and Strategy Meeting.

Community Meetings: The upcoming community meetings at the Bungendore Chambers on 3 May, Queanbeyan Chambers on 10 May and the Braidwood Council Room on 17 May will start at 6pm and finish at 8pm. Matters on the agenda will include the draft budget, an update on the merger and updates on major projects. To add something to the meeting agenda, email communications@qprc.nsw.gov.au
Integrated Transport Strategy: AECOM were awarded the contract for preparation of an Integrated Transport Strategy for QPRC. This strategy will include updates to the Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plans and Bicycle Plans. The Googong and Tralee Traffic Study 2031, CBD Master Plan and Residential and Economic Strategy 2031 will be incorporated into the strategy. The strategy will provide direction for transport, including the public transport, cycling and footpath networks and links, heavy vehicle management, future road planning and regional integration with the ACT and the broader NSW. The strategy is due to be completed in late October.
Tourism Plan: Council has prepared the region’s first Tourism Plan to provide strategic direction to the growth of our visitor economy, encourage economic development and attract investment. Tourism has significant potential as a key driver of the visitor economy and economic growth in the region. The Tourism Plan identifies opportunities for the private sector and other partners to be involved alongside the council and our communities. The plan will be placed on exhibition for public comment.
Meet + Make EXPO: Don’t miss the Meet + Make EXPO at the Bungendore Showground on Saturday 6 May from 10am to 3pm. The EXPO will showcase the amazing creatives and makers who live in the region. There will be lots of art, food, drink and performances.
