- Give up-ground shoots of established clumps of early spring flowering bulbs a boost with some nutrient-rich liquid like Power Feed or perhaps a home-made liquid fertiliser made by suspending a cupful of compost and manure tied into a circle of shade cloth into a 10L bucket for 24 hrs.
- Prepare planting sites for new seasons roses, fruit trees and bare-rooted ornamentals that will be set out over the next couple of months.
- Place a polythene tunnel over parsley seedlings to keep them clean and untouched by frost.
- Strawberry plants in their first or second season should be trimmed of any unwanted runners or late trusses of flowers. Not only will these not produce fruit at this stage but they will weaken the plants so that the spring crop may be smaller than need be.
