The service’s area operations coordinator Maggie Sutcliffe said the reserve would be closed until Wednesday.
“The hazard reduction burn aims to reduce fuel loads in the reserve and will be undertaken adjacent to Lanyon Drive,” she said.
“It is unlikely smoke will impact the road or visibility, but motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and are urged to follow all signage and advice from onsite traffic controllers and fire crews.”
The state government worked with the rural fire service and fire and rescue NSW to reduce future blaze risks.
The park was expected to re-open on Thursday.
