NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service director Mick Pettitt said the men were discovered by NPWS officers during a night time patrol.
“The men confessed to driving on access barred trails, possessing hunting dogs with tracking collars, possessing knives and opening locked gates to illegally hunt,” Mr Pettitt said.
An NPWS spokesperson said the men were found attempting to catch wild pigs in the Goobarragandra Wilderness area in the north end of Kosciuszko National Park on Emu Flat Creek Trail.
“Illegal hunting and carrying weapons in protected areas is a serious matter, which puts all park users at risk,” Mr Pettitt said.
Penalties for illegal hunting can range from fines of $300 to $11,000 or even six months imprisonment.
