“I am standing in support of Pete because I have confidence in his ability to present a positive case for the rural/rural residential part of the new Council,” Mr van der Straaten said.
“I consider him to have been as good a mayor for Palerang as anyone else could have been and with this knowledge and contacts within the local government community he could negotiate our voice in what could be a much larger and more powerful Queanbeyan representation on Council.”
Mr van der Straaten believes capable local government is important to for the region.
“I believe in a competent local government and accordingly work to have sound representatives in Council,” Mr van der Straaten said.
Having lived in Wamboin for 25 years, Mr van der Straaten has long experience in urban management, including particularly infrastructure and community involvement.
