For a start there are some pretty contrasting weather conditions in this part of the world.
It’s no secret that it gets well below freezing most nights in winter. We also certainly get our share of high winds and heavy storms, including some pretty serious hail sometimes.
The sun also fires off plenty of radiation throughout the year to challenge the longevity of any surface or substance it shines upon.
These are all things that damage or deteriorate a roof, and why it’s important that repairs are done as soon as practicable.
The folks at National Capital Roofing reckon that “Generally speaking, it is a far more cost-effective option to repair a damaged section of your roof than to replace the entire roof.”
However, they also say that “If your roof is nearing the end of its expected lifetime, or if it was poorly installed in the first place, replacement might be the best option.”
They also suggest that you need to keep a regular eye on your roof to know if repair work is needed.
Their recommendation is at least once a year.
They say that some signs to look out for include:
- Water marks on your interior ceilings
- Paint peeling off your roof overhang
- Mould spots on walls and ceilings that are close to your roof
However, you may not be confident or able to climb a ladder to do this yourself.
If that’s the case, then it’s helpful to know that seasoned professionals like them are more than willing to carry out such an inspection for you.
When you do book someone for an inspection or to carry out repairs, ensure you are using a company that is certified and insured for such work, as well as one who offer a warranty that’s as water-tight as your roof needs to be.
Whatever the case, make sure you don’t leave it too late. Ensure your roof is ready to take the brunt of the next weather event.
