“We were the first sport in Australia to run competition with modified rules for junior athletes to enable them to compete safely and maximize their enjoyment” a spokesperson for them said.
Those modifications were simple, but they were also very important.
They included some reduced running distances, hurdles with lower heights, and lighter objects for the throwing events.
“Everybody can be involved in Little Athletics, whether you are runner, jumper, thrower, volunteer or spectator.
“Our centres provide opportunities for children aged between five and fifteen to make friends outside of school in a positive environment focused on the philosophy of family, fun and fitness.”
That goes for the members over the age of 15 as well.
“Parents and carers can make new friends at Little A’s too. Volunteering to help rake the long jump pit or time-keep running events is a great ice-breaker that can help create long lasting friendships for you and your family.”
The 2017/2018 season will run from October to March and registrations are now open.
