After winning the Katrina Fanning Shield last weekend, the Queanbeyan Blues travelled to Wollongong to take on the Corrimal Cougars, but went down 38-0 on Sunday.
Their numbers were decimated with five players in Sydney with the University of Canberra sevens team, including their two playmakers and last weekend's best-on-ground Yasmin Meakes.
They also lost several players due to illness and if it wasn't for Goulburn - the team they beat in last weekend's grand final - chipping in three players to help out the Blues wouldn't have had a side.
In the end they only had one player on the bench.
Blues team manager Tammy Stuckey liked the concept of taking on the Illawarra's best, but felt playing it a week or two later would help.
"I think if we had our full side and couple of benchies we would've probably told a different story, but it's all experience," she said.
