Rod de Groot, winner of last years' competition, has been pre-fishing with great success.
Rod managed to land 11 yellows last weekend, by finding the redfin and fishing around the school. I'm sure this method will be heavily utilised in the upcoming competition.
Redfin are still hitting lures in our region with feeder creeks, such as Ginninderra, seen to be best. Blood worm plastics on a beetle spin have worked well, and small vibes and trusty red celtas are a perfect option as well.

Bass have been a little slow, but anglers that fish the high barometer are managing to open their season account with some decent fish. Upper Clyde, Brogo and Bega Rivers have all produced bass; plastics with small jigheads slowly rolled are putting anglers onto the fish. Small spinnerbaits, cicadas, and poppers have also been catching their fair share of good fish.
On the coast, snapper fishing remains strong - weather permitting.
The focus for tuna has moved north with the Sydney waters coming alive with Southern Bluefin tuna. Some nice water is pushing into Jervis Bay so fingers crossed we get some tuna action closer to home.
